Impact and WDY
What is Impact?
Impact is a programme for young people, 13 - 17 years old. It brings young people together, in groups, to plan action and 'make a difference'.
Impact...
• is run by young people for young people
• is made up of small groups which form a large network
• groups meet at local level in youth groups and schools
• helps young people to reflect and plan action on a local, national or global level
• helps young people to make a real difference
Our group have been involved in:
• Residential Weekends at Castlerigg Manor, Keswick
• African Drumming workshops
• Drama & Art workshops
• Issues and situations that affect young people
• International Youth Exchange

We now have 2 Impact Chaplains as Fr Bernard has moved to Barrow so will not be able to help out as much.
We, the Impact Youth Group, work with CAFOD on various projects & support the work of the Diocese of Lancaster Catholic Youth Service.

"Impact does make a difference for young people today"
It has been a busy few months for the Preston Impact Group and WDY Group.
Firstly, at the end of December we broke our record for bag packing and reached a massive £1140, which is a fantastic sum for the group to use in various project throughout 2010.
We also welcomed a new Impact Chaplain in January, Fr Paul Swarbrick from Sacred Heart and St. Walburge's parishes in Preston, in addition to Fr Bernard who has moved to Barrow.
We also had a trip to Manchester to meet another Impact Group. At this meeting we talked about how we could make links with groups in different dioceses, whilst discussing what other Impact Groups have been up to recently.
Both Impact and WDY groups went for a meal out together at the Café Bar in Preston. It was an opportunity to meet each groups and find out what Impact and WDY had been up to.
We have also been developing our websites as we now have an Impact and WDY website. The address is www.iyfimpact.co.uk, which contains upcoming events, IYF and Malta News and details on our last Castlerigg trip.
We are looking forward to the International Youth Festival in Kuopio, Finland on Easter Week, where we will meet people and take part in workshops like we did last year at IYF ’09 in Preston. Also, we have a return leg for the Malta Exchange being held in Preston at the end of July.

What is WDY?
Wicked Dynamic Youth
This is a new youth group and is only being developed has a youth group, we meet every two weeks at St. Clares Parish Centre on a Thursday 7.30-9.00pm, young people attend from three parishes in the Fulwood area St.Clares, St. Anthony’s, Our Lady & St. Edward’s.
WDY is for young people aged between 12-14 years old and we offer various activities for the young people.
